We have finished day one of the
United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology Meeting, held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Reports are that the number of registered attendees is in the 3,500 - 4,000 range, which is an increase over last year. In this economy, with budgets being tightened everywhere, that is a real testament to the pathology community and the dedication to its membership.
Traffic at the General Data booth has been brisk -- many attendess are very interested in discussing how they can use barcode technology to help streamline and error-proof their workflow. The need for this seems to be gaining even greater visibility within the community. Some pathologists I spoke with shared their expectations that this will become an accreditation requirement in the near future.

Here's my colleague, Jim Bacho, at our USCAP booth with an attendee. If you plan on making it to USCAP, please stop by and say hello - we're at booth 522.
