Wax ribbons are the most commonly used and generally the most cost-effective option when it comes to thermal transfer ribbons. Due to the nature of the wax-based ink that is used to print the label image, these labels should not be subject to moisture or chemicals.

Wax melts at a lower temperature than resin, therefore, preserving the life of your printhead but also producing a softer image which makes it more susceptible to smudges and scratches. Labels printed using wax ribbons do not have the durability of a label image printed with a resin ribbon. This makes them ideal for short team applications such as shipping, retail or mailing labels.
